Unfiltered and unrefined discourse about woodworking, wood properties, forestry, philosophy, and whatever else catches my fancy – it’s all here at A Riving Home.

My name is Justin, and I’m a professional forester with two forestry degrees from the University of Georgia. I sort of backed into woodworking through my love of trees, but I’ve been an avid woodworking hobbyist for more than a decade. My projects nearly always begin in the forest – I fell my own trees, saw them into lumber, and carefully stack and dry my ligneous treasure until it’s ready for prime time. I’ve always had a restless mind, and my woodshop is one of the few places that I can count on to lose track of time and get lost in the task at hand.

I’m 32 years old, I have a lovely wife of six years and counting, and we have three wonderful children. We’ve lived all over the Southeast -Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi – but we’re currently loving life just a stone’s throw from the beach at Amelia Island, Florida.
