Unfiltered and unrefined discourse about woodworking, wood properties, forestry, homesteading, and whatever else catches my fancy – it’s all here at A Riving Home.

My name is Justin, and I’m a professional forester with two forestry degrees from the University of Georgia. I sort of backed into woodworking through my love of trees, but I’ve been an avid woodworking hobbyist for a decade and a half. My projects nearly always begin in the forest – I fell my own trees, saw them into lumber, and carefully stack and dry my ligneous treasure until it’s ready to use. I’ve always had a restless mind, and my woodshop is one of the few places that I can count on to lose track of time and get lost in the task at hand.

I’m 34 years old, I have a lovely wife of six years and counting, and we have three wonderful children. We’ve lived all over the Southeast – Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, and Florida – but we’re putting down roots in Danielsville, GA, just 20 minutes from my alma mater.
